What are the keys to your company’s rapid growth?
The key to our growth was a commitment to carving out time every week to work “on” the business and not just “in” the business. Every quarter, our executive team takes a full day off-site to create our strategic plan for the upcoming quarter. We create our three to five big “rocks” or company initiatives to solve and accomplish over the next 90 days.

What advice can you offer someone just starting a business?
Hire an excellent business coach and listen to them. Also, read every book you can get on how to run a great business. Spend at least 30 minutes every morning reading books on how to make a great business.

What is your strategy for innovation?
Peter Drucker said there are only two functions of a business: marketing and innovation. We spend time every week and every quarter at our executive meetings talking about these two functions.

Does your company’s geographic location offer any specific advantages?
Heck yes, it does! Charleston is one of the greatest cities on the planet. We are so fortunate to sell real estate in a city that everyone in the world wants to live in.
