Capital Bank, which recently merged with First Tennessee Bank, has named Steven Waddell as the new market president for the Midlands area.

Waddell is responsible for all lines of business including private client, commercial, small business, and retail banking. His experience aligns with the strategic priorities of Capital Bank and First Tennessee, which was recently named No. 5 among American Banker’s Top 10 Most Reputable U.S. Banks.

“Steven is an asset to my leadership team. His track record, knowledge, and business and community relationships will be valuable as we navigate through this acquisition,” said Rick Manley, Mid-Atlantic president at First Tennessee and Capital Bank. “I look to Steven to focus on improving our client retention and growth throughout this area.”

Waddell has most recently served as the senior commercial market executive for the Midlands area of South Carolina for Capital Bank. He has a total of 30 years of banking experience serving in various capacities. Waddell is engaged in his community and has recently served on boards and committees for City Year, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and the Development Systems International.

Waddell attended the University of South Carolina. He graduated from Marquette University from the executive development program for banking and consumer finance.
