Current HealthSouth Columbia patient Robert Demailly, who is part of the inpatient rehabilitation hospital’s amputee program, and former patient Allen Clemmons, whose life was saved by 9-year-old neighbor Malachi Coffey after he was trapped under his car, threw the first pitches at the Fireflies baseball game on July 4th. Malachi is also expected to be in attendance.

HealthSouth Columbia will be sponsoring the game under their new name and brand of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Columbia, which converted on July 1. The inpatient rehabilitation hospital will continue to provide the same high-quality post-acute care for patients overcoming a variety of debilitating illnesses and injuries. This is a way to celebrate the success of independence of two remarkable patients.
