Aug 16, 2018 04:04PM ● By Kathleen Maris

Nexsen Pruet, one of the Carolinas' largest law firms, announces that two attorneys have been elected to the firm’s Board of Directors. Jennifer S. Cluverius, whose practice is based in Greenville, and Matthew B. Roberts, whose practice is based in Columbia, began their first three-year term on July 1, 2018.

Nexsen Pruet’s five-member Board of Directors, elected by its members (partners), functions as a policy-making body for the firm. Cluverius and Roberts join Chairman Leighton Lord of Columbia, George J. Bullwinkel of Charleston, and Scott Jackson of Greensboro, N.C.

“Our firm is lucky to have such a strong team of leaders, each one committed to serving our clients, our communities, and the people that make up Nexsen Pruet,” said Lord.

Cluverius is a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor Group. She is certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a Specialist in Employment and Labor Law. Cluverius provides daily counsel to employers, including federal contractors, in employment, labor, and other business matters. She represents employers in federal and state court litigation, as well as before the EEOC, the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission and the Department of Employment and Workforce.

Roberts is the chair of Nexsen Pruet’s Health Care Group. He focuses his practice on board governance issues, physician/hospital relationships, managed care issues, fraud and abuse matters, health care contracts, and issues related to tax-exempt hospitals, as well as the development and operation of clinically integrated networks, false claims analysis and defense, and work on regulatory and legislative matters involving health care.

Nexsen Pruet also announces the appointment of nine office-managing partners, selected by the firm’s Board of Directors. Appointment is based on an attorney’s demonstrated management skills, community involvement, firm involvement, and general ability to create a positive work environment in each office.
