Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners announced that it has acquired The Inn at USC in Columbia. In spring 2019, the hotel will undergo a comprehensive renovation to become part of the Graduate Hotels collection. The hotel will remain open during renovations and will be completed in fall 2019. The 116-room hotel is in downtown Columbia and within walking distance to University of South Carolina’s campus.
Located on Pendleton Street in Columbia’s historic University Hill neighborhood, the hotel is adjacent to the University of South Carolina’s main campus, including the famed Horseshoe, the National Advocacy Center, and the School of Law. The South Carolina State House is four blocks from the hotel, and the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center and USC's Darla Moore School of Business are also within walking distance. The nearby Five Points neighborhood offers guests access to shopping, dining and nightlife.
Created for travelers who seek memory-making journeys, Graduate Hotels is a collection of hotels that reside in the most dynamic university-anchored cities across the country. Each property celebrates and commemorates the optimistic energy of its community, while offering an extended retreat to places that often play host to the best days of our lives. There are currently 11 open and operating Graduate Hotels across the U.S. and an additional 13 under development slated to open by 2020.
“We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of The Inn at USC,” says Tim Ryan, SVP of Acquisitions for Graduate Hotels. “This public-private partnership with the University of South Carolina and University Foundations is exemplary of our commitment to serving great campus communities and attractive destinations with unparalleled hospitality. We look forward to introducing Graduate Hotels to Columbia next fall.”
The hotel will undergo a comprehensive renovation, which will touch all guestrooms and common areas, the lobby, and the hotel’s 3,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting and events space. Historic elements of the property will be carefully restored or preserved during the renovation.
