Columbia Design League Hosts Tour of BullStreet District Sat. Feb. 9

The Columbia Design League, an affiliate group of the Columbia Museum of Art, will host “Meet the Designer: BullStreet by Bus,” a bus tour of the BullStreet District on Saturday, February 9 beginning at Bone-In Barbeque at 2 p.m. In this ticketed behind-the-scenes tour, master developer Robert Hughes and project manager Chandler Cox of Hughes Development Corporation will show attendees around and, in some cases, inside key destinations within the 181-acre site to showcase the district’s ongoing transformation and future projects.

Attendance for “Meet the Designer: BullStreet by Bus” is $35 per person for current members of the Columbia Design League and $45 for nonmembers. You must RSVP by February 6 to attend. Seats are limited.

Ticket holders will gather at Bone-In Barbeque at 2 p.m., where a light buffet sampling from the Bone-In menu will be provided along with a complimentary beverage. A cash bar will also be available. Hughes Development Corporation project manager Chandler Cox will join guests to answer questions until the tour(s) begin.

The bus tour, which will visit nine stops within the district, will be led by Hughes Development Corporation president Robert Hughes. Some tour stops will offer complimentary wine and cheese. Guests should plan for some walking outdoors (pending ground conditions and weather), uneven terrain and multiple trips on and off the bus to tour open buildings. Due to time constraints, active construction and pre-planned events, some stops will be viewed from the bus.

Areas of interest on the tour will include:

·      Historic Ensor Building

·      Merrill Gardens active senior community

·      20-acre City of Columbia public park

·      Central Energy event venue (new home of Downtown Church)

·      SCDNR's Parker Annex Archaeology Center

·      TownPark at BullStreet townhomes

·      SOCO at the historic Bakery

·      Babcock Building (from exterior)

·      Capgemini’s S.C. headquarters in the First Base Building
