Hood Construction Reaches Two Million Man Hours Of Safety

Hood Construction announces that it has achieved two million hours without a lost time incident.

At Hood Construction, a commitment to safety is a vital part of the company's focus. From the top down, the organization is completely united on this front - every employee works each day to safeguard themselves, their work partners, and the entire surrounding community.

When working in busy neighborhood and business districts on hundreds of projects throughout the state, careful planning and communication is the key to safe and successful results. Hood employs a number of in-house safety initiatives to ensure each jobsite is run safely and smoothly.

“We want to make sure that each person working on, visiting, or traveling near our jobsites goes home safely each day,” said Charles Stuart, Hood Construction senior project manager and safety director. “Safety is of utmost importance.”

To advance this commitment, Hood sponsors various safety training programs for subcontractor partners, while actively engaging in pre-planning of all risk elements, weekly on-site safety meetings, and the full-time use of a professional safety consultant.

The results speak for themselves, as Hood is recognized annually by numerous organizations for outstanding safety performance. These include awards from the National AGC, Carolinas AGC, the SC State Chamber, Amerisure, and other industry partners.

“I care personally about everyone on our jobsites, and continue to challenge our employees to raise the bar,” said Mark Hood, president and CEO. “Our motto is, ‘Build it the right way, everything else will follow’, and that begins with safety. There are very few firms in our industry that can boast this milestone. I am incredibly proud of this accomplishment and what our team has done to make the goal of reaching 2 Million a reality. Now, we’re ready to set our sights on the next safety goal.”
