Riggs Partners will hold its 22nd annual CreateAthon event to benefit Midlands- and Upstate-area nonprofits on October 17-18, 2019. CreateAthon is a 24-hour creative marathon during which professionals provide marketing services to nonprofit organizations on a pro bono basis.
Riggs Partners encourages South Carolina’s Midlands and Upstate nonprofits to submit a CreateAthon application by July 15. Applications now are available at www.riggspartners.com, and selected nonprofits will be notified in late August.
“No important community issue can be solved without effective communications, and this truth puts communications professionals in a unique position to impact social change,” said Teresa Coles, president of Riggs Partners. “We’ve been privileged to see just how impactful the work we’ve done through CreateAthon has been in our community, and it’s what inspires us every year to pull yet another all-nighter for good.”
CreateAthon began as Riggs Partners’ local community service program in 1998 and is now a national 501(c) 3 organization that has recruited more than 100 marketing and communications agencies, universities, professional organizations, and corporate marketing teams as CreateAthon partners. These CreateAthon partners have served more than 1,300 nonprofit organizations in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, delivering pro bono marketing projects valued at more than $24 million.
Riggs Partners has served more than 200 South Carolina nonprofits since the program’s inception.
“Our organization was in need of rebranding, but
we didn’t have the funding to move forward with a marketing firm,” said
Kimberly Tissout, executive director of Able South Carolina and 2012
CreateAthon participant. “With the creative brilliance behind CreateAthon, we
were able to successfully rebrand to not only stand out from other
organizations, but to better tell our story. Our name and overall image now
match our work of empowering independence for people with disabilities, while
also creating systems of change. Being able to better stand out has also
contributed to quadrupling our budget which allows us to make a larger
impact in the lives of South Carolinians with disabilities. I would encourage
all nonprofits to apply for the opportunity to receive the gift of marketing services through CreateAthon to take their program
to the next level.”
