Gallivan White Boyd partner Breon C. M. Walker has been elected president of the South Carolina Black Lawyers Association (SCBLA), the law firm announced.

SCBLA says it strives to improve the development of its members, provide a voice to its communities and make legal assistance available by connecting with the community.

Membership is open to all attorneys admitted to practice law in the state of South Carolina who have an interest in promoting the welfare of African American attorneys and the purpose and mission of the association.

The organization's initiatives include promoting professionalism, addressing injustice and providing advocacy statewide. It doesn't represent individuals, groups or corporations in legal matters.

Walker is a litigation attorney in Gallivan White Boyd's Columbia office. She has a diverse legal practice in the defense of personal injury claims, products liability, commercial litigation and government relations.

Walker, a native of Columbia, also represents major business interests throughout South Carolina before both state and local government bodies.

Gallivan White Boyd handles litigation for local, regional and national clients.

Founded over 70 years ago, the firm has offices in Charleston, Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
