Born in Columbia and raised in Camden, Jessica Clancy Crowson graduated magna cum laude from the College of Charleston and earned her Juris Doctor from the Vanderbilt University School of Law. After experience in both civil and criminal litigation, including an Assistant State Attorney position in Florida, Crowson is now an attorney and member at Pennington Law Firm, LLC, in Columbia with a practice focused on wireless telecommunications.
“Over the years, my personal and professional motivations have changed significantly,” says Crowson. “I credit my [three young] children and husband with the shifting of my priorities for the better. As a law student, I was initially drawn to big firms, big cities and big money. Now I am much more driven by my personal satisfaction with my work, my interaction with clients and my desire to handle a case, lease or contract as capably as possible.
“My hope is to leave things better than when I found them. From an environmental aspect, I strive to do more good than harm and leave the planet in as pristine a shape as possible for my children. From a social aspect, I hope to impart more laughter than tears to those around me. From a professional aspect, I seek to change the undeserved reputation of lawyers as money-grubbing scoundrels to a more accurate reflection of most of us in the profession. I hope that the way I treat opposing counsel, clients, judges and the community at large reflects that professional endeavor.”
