Columbia, S.C., Feb. 13, 2012 – The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) held its Annual Meeting of Members during the 2012 NAMM Show and elected eight NAMM Members to its new class of Board of Directors. Jyotindra Parekh (J.P.), owner of Rice Music House, South Carolina's oldest piano retailer since 1924 and the home of Steinway and Sons pianos, was elected to serve on the NAMM Board of Directors from January 2012 to 2015.
NAMM's Board of Directors takes an active role in NAMM's mission to strengthen the music products industry and promote the pleasures and benefits of making music.
"I look forward to working with fellow music product industry peers and NAMM members to enhance and embrace the importance of music and music-making, not only for children's educational learning benefits but also for adults as a hobby and for seniors as entertainment and to enhance their health and recreational activities," said Parekh. "Music is universal and has no boundaries with regard to age, race, gender or nationality. It is beneficial to all."
