Pamela Lackey Elected PABC Board Chair
(Columbia, SC) – Palmetto Agribusiness Council (PABC) has elected Pamela Lackey, President of AT&T South Carolina, as Chair of the Board. PABC represents some of the largest agribusiness employers in the state with a mission to sustain and grow South Carolina’s largest industry.
Lackey is responsible for the public policy, economic development and community affairs activities of AT&T, a leading provider of wireless and wireline communications services. In her role, she works closely with state and community leaders to help bring new technology and jobs to the state and improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians.
Actively engaged in community and civic affairs, Lackey serves on numerous boards, including the S.C. Ports Authority Board, the Business Partnership Foundation at USC’s Moore School of Business, the Palmetto Business Forum, and the Hollings Cancer Center Advisory Board. She served four years on the Research Centers of Excellence Review Board. In November 2011, she was named the Business Leader of the Year by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the highest award bestowed by the state’s largest business and industry association.
PABC President Jack Shuler commented that Lackey will be an asset to the organization. “With Pamela’s extensive business background, she will provide valuable leadership as PABC develops economic development strategies to expand the agribusiness industry’s contribution to South Carolina’s economy,” Shuler said.
SC Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers believes agribusiness will benefit from Lackey’s involvement as chair of PABC. “Pamela has been an active and effective leader for South Carolina and agribusiness in her many roles she fills,” Weathers said. “We look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”
A native of Meridian, MS, Lackey is a graduate of the University of Alabama and holds a BA in Education, a Master of Library Science, and an Ed.S. in School Media Supervision.
Lackey and her husband, Gary, have two children and five grandchildren.
