Palmetto Biotech Presents to 1 Million Cups

We’re all suckers for great storytelling and Drew Murrell is a great storyteller. His entrepreneurship journey began when he interned with a prosthesis initiative in Haiti and fell in love with two things: a smokin’ hot fellow intern and fitting people with mechanics to assist them in mobility.

Since August of 2017, Palmetto Biotech Prosthetics & Orthotics has been providing a better quality of life for their patients. Their goal is to put patients before profit. To hear Drew tell it, the time he spends relating to and helping his clients is the most rewarding part of his work. Medical practices are an unusual presentation at 1 Million Cups and the community had a lot of questions about the revenue stream, the business model, and Drew’s plan to grow beyond his shop in downtown Columbia. Overwhelmingly, though, the community supported Drew’s story and the use of his story to sell services.

Learn more about Drew Murrell on Palmetto Biotech’s website (he married that smokin' hot intern, by the way). Learn more about 1 Million Cups by attending a weekly meeting: 9 a.m. every Wednesday at Richland Library on Assembly Street.
