Local businessman Cherod Webber joins state leaders from across the country in Washington D.C. on June 18 and 19 to urge South Carolina lawmakers on Capitol Hill to fully fund the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in the wake of the Administration’s proposal to slash funding by 30 percent.

The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition is convening its State Leaders Summit with more than 500 business, military, government, nonprofit, and faith leaders from across the country at a time of growing global challenges – from North Korea and the Middle East to the latest Ebola outbreak to the refugee and famine crises.

South Carolina is home to some of the largest global brands and organizations with rapidly growing international operations in emerging markets. Last year, South Carolina exported more than $32 billion in goods overseas, and trade supports 496,000 local jobs, making America’s global leadership a key issue for the state.

Webber is the president and CEO of Innovative Global Supply, LLC, a local export-driven business that supplies nutritional products to malnourished populations around the world – from sub-Saharan Africa to Southeast Asia to the Middle East. Webber also serves as chairman of the South Carolina District Export Council.
