THS Constructors, Inc, one of the Southeast’s leading design-build and contracting companies, recently announced the completion and grand opening for the new Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Wellness Complex for Claflin University in Orangeburg. The new Health and Wellness Complex is a two-story, 34,744-square-foot building that includes a full-size gymnasium, a running track, locker rooms for men and women, a two-floor fitness area, multiple classrooms, offices, and a full demonstration kitchen.

Claflin University has made a commitment to the Orangeburg community to help promote health and wellness within the school and the City of Orangeburg. The facility will be open to all residents of Orangeburg.

“THS was instrumental in value engineering the early design documents and made recommendations in the overall construction cost and completed the project on time and under budget. THS provided excellent service to Claflin University on our new health and wellness complex that will not only serve the students of Claflin, but the community of Orangeburg,” said Tijuana Hudson, Claflin vice president for fiscal affairs.

THS Constructors worked with architecture firm, McMillan Pazdan Smith, and engineering firms Edisto Engineers & Surveyors and MMSA Structural Engineers. The complete design and construction of the new 34,744-square-foot facility was completed in late 2018.
