Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE) said it will build two new state-of-the-art tower production plants as it expands its recently established Nucor Towers & Structures business unit.

Nucor said it is evaluating locations in the Midwest and the Southeast.

"As our nation continues to replace its aging electric grid, extend transmission infrastructure to connect renewable generation locations and modernize its digital network, we see tremendous growth potential in the need to build this critical infrastructure using some of the cleanest, most sustainable steel in the world," said Leon Topalian, chair, president and CEO of Nucor Corporation.

"The growth of Nucor Towers & Structures is further execution of our strategy."

Last year, Nucor formed the Nucor Towers & Structures business unit when it acquired Summit Utility Structures LLC, a producer of metal poles and steel structures for utility infrastructure in eastern Pennsylvania.

While that location primarily serves customers in the northeastern part of the country, Nucor said it will establish a nationwide footprint with these two new facilities.

Nucor officials said the growing demand for utility infrastructure is being driven by grid hardening and replacements, renewable energy projects, and population growth. 

Additional demand for utility infrastructure will result from the Inflation Reduction Act, recently passed by Congress, which provides more than $300 billion for clean energy and climate programs, the officials said.

They said the two new greenfield transmission tower production plants will be extensively automated and will include advanced hot-dip galvanizing operations.

Each facility will use highly efficient straight-line production and will increase Nucor Towers & Structures' capabilities to provide engineered solutions for utility infrastructure and construction projects, the officials said.

Locations for the two new facilities will be determined in the next few months, Nucor said.

Liz McCary, vice president of marketing | South Carolina for Colliers, said in an online post that office brokerage team members Brantley Anderson, Taylor Allen, and Bailey Tollison represented AMRA Partners in the purchase of 8 Memorial Medical Drive, a 22,786-square-foot medical office building in Greenville, S.C.

This will be AMRA’s second medical office investment in the Upstate.  
“This sale is representative of the demand for medical office product for investors, especially in an area like Upstate South Carolina that is seeing tremendous economic and population growth,” said Tollison, brokerage associate | Offices Services in Colliers’ Greenville office. 

“AMRA has identified a growing need for medical office product nationally and has strategically chosen Upstate South Carolina as one of their target markets. We were fortunate to find an off-market opportunity and represent AMRA in the purchase of their second medical office investment property in the area.”

8 Memorial Medical Drive is less than a mile from Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, Shriners Hospital, Prisma Health Cancer Institute and the new VA clinic on Grove Road and is surrounded by several independent practices just off Interstate 185.

The property is primarily occupied by PathGroup, an industry leader in providing comprehensive anatomic, clinical, and molecular pathology services. 

Anderson, Allen and Tollison are members of the Colliers office brokerage team, specializing in landlord and tenant representation throughout the Greenville-Spartanburg market of South Carolina. 

BASF’s site in Seneca sponsored Clemson University’s Solid Green Day in 2022, an event which promotes sustainability efforts across the campus.

The event included a campus-wide litter pickup and showcase of sustainable groups across campus.

The precious metals BASF refines, including platinum, palladium and rhodium are then used in many applications by people around the world.

Catalysts recycled by BASF are used in cell phones, computers, televisions, drinking water purification, fragrances, medical devices that allow patients to live longer, healthier lives and more.

This was the third year BASF’s site in Seneca has sponsored Solid Green Day in partnership with Clemson University.

USA Pickleball, the national governing body for the sport of pickleball, announced the schedule for the 2023 USA Pickleball National Championships Series (NCS), also known as The Road To Nationals.

The 2023 NCS will be comprised of five tournaments held across the country that serve as primary qualifiers for the sport’s premier event, the USA Pickleball National Championships.

USA Pickleball also announced that next year’s National Championships will be held Nov. 4-12, as it returns to Pickleball Paradise at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif. 

USA Pickleball and the Association of Pickleball Professionals (APP) will again partner next year to stage the NCS. All five series events will be part of the 2023 APP Tour, including the series opener Feb. 8-12 in Daytona Beach, Fla., at Pictona at Holly Hill.

The NCS will then move to APP stops in Mesa, Ariz. (March 29-April 2) and Cincinnati (May 10-14), before visiting the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City (May 24-28).

The series will conclude at the Consumer Cellular USA Pickleball Newport Beach Championships in Newport Beach, Calif., (June 28-July 2)

The USA Pickleball NCS provides the opportunity for amateur pickleball players to compete to earn a Golden Ticket by finishing first in their age and skill division(s) to automatically qualify for the National Championships.

All APP Tour and NCS events are sanctioned by USA Pickleball, and all players are required to be USA Pickleball members.
