Five Goodwill organizations from across South Carolina united at the South Carolina State House on April 10th for Goodwill Day at the Dome, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness among legislators about the critical role Goodwill plays in helping South Carolinians get back to work. More than 200 participants, including 55 state legislators, gathered in Columbia for a morning of dialogue focused on workforce development, job training, and community-based employment solutions.

Representatives from each regional Goodwill shared how the nonprofit provides vital services and skills training to individuals seeking meaningful careers across a variety of industries. The conversation highlighted that Goodwill-trained workers remain in South Carolina, directly contributing to the state’s economic strength and workforce readiness.

“This event underscores the importance of cross-collaboration between our Goodwill organizations and the power of connecting with our legislators,” said Pat Michaels, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina. “Together, we are showing how public and nonprofit sectors can align to provide education, training, and career support that truly changes lives.”

As a locally rooted nonprofit, Goodwill remains committed to helping individuals achieve sustainable employment, from young adults and veterans to people reentering the workforce or transitioning careers. Goodwill Day at the Dome reinforces Goodwill’s mission of putting people back to work – and ensures lawmakers have the information and tools they need to support their constituents’ success through the power of work.
