Consumer Cellular Opens First South Carolina Retail Location in Irmo

Consumer Cellular opens its first South Carolina brick and mortar retail location today, March 26, in Irmo. The Irmo store is the 10th company-owned retail store to open in March, marking a nearly 14 percent increase across the month of March alone. The wireless provider now operates 83 retail stores across 30 states, and plans to reach 120 retail locations by year's end.

Officials with Consumer Cellular note that their organization leads their industry, citing ACSI ranking them No.1 in both Network Coverage and Customer satisfaction, as well as USA TODAY ranking them No.1 in Customer Service. To underscore its commitment to "investing in real people and real locations," the company recently released a new commercial featuring a real Consumer Cellular store manager aptly named Rhine Reynolds,  inviting consumers to visit a Consumer Cellular store. "We've got stores popping up all over," he says.

“At a time when much of the industry is racing toward automation and AI-driven service, we believe there’s still enormous value in RI — Real Intelligence — real people helping real customers make smart decisions in real communities,” said Consumer Cellular CEO Ed Evans. “Our continued retail expansion reflects that belief. Technology plays an important role, but nothing replaces sitting down with someone, understanding what they actually need, and helping them save money in a way that feels personal and transparent.”

Over a few years, Consumer Cellular has rapidly scaled its standalone retail presence while maintaining its focus on American customers over 50, and a 100 percent U.S.-based customer service model — a contrast in a category where other carriers are reducing physical locations and automating customer interactions.

March’s retail expansion includes:

• Two stores opened March 5: Terre Haute, IN, and Vancouver, WA

• Three stores opened on March 12: Shreveport, LA, Olympia, WA, and Appleton, WI

• Three stores opened on March 19: Champaign, IL, Mishawaka, IN, and Oklahoma City, OK

• Two stores opening March 26: Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Irmo, SC (its 83rd store)

Consumer Cellular's Irmo retail store is located at: 7467 St Andrews Rd #7A, Irmo, SC 29063
