As part of his “Garnet and Black Road Trip,” USC Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati visited Gamecock Clubs in Spartanburg and Charleston — updating members on the status of H.4902 and making a point to recognize local legislators for their support of the now-law, passed with strong bipartisan backing.
H. 4902 addressed evolving name, image, and likeness (NIL) and revenue-sharing issues — protecting student-athletes’ individual contract details while ensuring transparency through annual reporting of aggregate revenue-sharing payments.
That same spirit of adapting to a rapidly changing collegiate athletics landscape is now extending into the classroom. Beginning in fall 2026, the South Carolina Honors College will join peer institutions across the Southeastern Conference in a new collaborative course exploring the future of college athletics — including revenue sharing, athletic department budgeting, media, and the legal landscape shaping the industry.
Together, these efforts reflect a comprehensive approach — from policy to practice to preparation — ensuring Gamecock student-athletes remain competitive and well-supported. USC officials expressed their gratitude to members of the General Assembly for their continued leadership and commitment to higher education and student-athlete success in South Carolina.
