The South Carolina Power Team has announced the addition of Meredith Atkinson as director of Communications. In this role, Atkinson will oversee the organization’s strategic communications and marketing initiatives, playing a vital role in shaping the South Carolina Power Team’s image, amplifying its message, and strengthening efforts that support economic development across the state’s 19 electric cooperatives.

Atkinson brings nearly two decades of experience developing and leading marketing and communications strategies for organizations across South Carolina and the southeast. Her background spans agency, nonprofit, retail, and state government work, where she has consistently helped organizations connect people, ideas, and communities through thoughtful storytelling and strategic engagement.

Prior to joining the South Carolina Power Team, Atkinson served as client engagement manager with the integrated communications agency Chernoff Newman, where she partnered with clients across multiple industries to deliver results-driven campaigns. Her previous roles include marketing manager for Columbiana Centre and Augusta Mall, communications director with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, and executive director of the Congaree Vista Guild, where she led initiatives to strengthen Columbia’s arts and hospitality district.

“Meredith’s passion for connecting people and communities, combined with her deep communications experience, makes her an exceptional addition to our team,” said James Chavez, president & CEO of the South Carolina Power Team. “Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to elevate our brand, share the stories of South Carolina’s electric cooperatives, and showcase the role they play in powering economic opportunity across our state.”
