Tide Rock, a growth platform for B2B companies with a portfolio of manufacturing and services businesses, announced that it has acquired Electro-Spec, a specialty plating and surface finishing company based in Indiana and South Carolina.

The acquisition establishes Tide Rock's specialty surface finishing platform with advanced electroplating, passivation, and metallurgical analysis capabilities. With the addition of Electro-Spec, Tide Rock believes the platform is well positioned to support high-reliability applications across aerospace, defense, medical, telecommunications, nuclear, and battery markets, providing diversified exposure across multiple high-reliability end markets.

Electro-Spec is a specialty plating and surface finishing company, providing high-reliability plating solutions for original equipment manufacturers and precision machining shops requiring NADCAP, AS9100, ITAR, and other relevant industry certifications. Operating from facilities in Franklin, Indiana, and Lexington, South Carolina, the company utilizes a combination of automated and semi-automated PLC-controlled plating lines and advanced metallurgical testing capabilities. Electro-Spec's capabilities include selective gold plating, electroless nickel plating, passivation, and micro-miniature (SBE) plating designed for demanding, performance-critical applications.

"Electro-Spec stood out as an attractive acquisition opportunity because of its combination of technical expertise, long-term customer relationships, and growth potential," said Brooks Kincaid, president of Tide Rock. " Electro-Spec exemplifies the high-reliability, mission-critical businesses we intend to have in our portfolio and complements Tide Rock's metal machining companies with a specialized plating capability."

Electro-Spec has developed a reputation for partnering closely with engineers and quality teams to address corrosion, wear, conductivity and performance challenges in mission-critical applications. The company's investments in automated production systems, laboratory capabilities, and proprietary plating technologies allow it to deliver precision, traceability, and repeatability for customers operating in highly regulated environments.

Jeff Smith, president of Electro-Spec, adds, "Building and growing Electro-Spec over the last 32 years has been the journey of a lifetime. What began as a small operation has grown into a thriving multi-site company with customers all over the world. This happened because of the dedication of our incredible employees and the trust of our loyal customers. As I looked toward the future and our next chapter, finding the right home for Electro-Spec was my highest priority. I chose to partner with Tide Rock because of their unique approach to investing and growing businesses such as ours. Our growth has always been driven by two forces: the relentless innovation of our team and our absolute commitment to the high-reliability needs of our global customers. As I planned for the company's next phase of growth, finding a partner who respected that legacy and the value of innovation was paramount in our decision.  We wanted that story to continue, and while one chapter of our history is finished, a new one is just beginning."
